Life is a rollercoaster of ups and downs, twists and turns, and unexpected surprises. It’s a journey that we all embark on and one that can lead us to incredible growth and transformation. As I reflect on my own journey, I can’t help but marvel at how much I’ve changed and evolved over the years. From my beliefs and values to my outlook on life, I’ve undergone some significant transformations that have shaped who I am today. So, I want to take a moment to share some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way. These insights have helped me navigate the twists and turns of life and continue to guide me on this wild ride. Here are 5 lessons learned from life so far.
Time is Finite
As we age, we realize that time is a precious commodity that seems to slip through our fingers like sand. It’s like the clock is in fast-forward mode, and before we know it, the day is over. Whether we’re busy bees or taking a well-deserved break, time waits for no one. That’s why it’s crucial to establish a morning routine and create a daily schedule to make the most of every moment. By doing so, we can become masters of our time and easily achieve our goals.
The Truth Always Prevails
There have been situations in my life where I had to choose between telling the truth or keeping friends. I chose the former and it cost me some friends. Those people though, were not true friends, in the end. Truth is always the better option, even if it causes a negative outcome. Truth always prevails.
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
The phrase “Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill” comes to mind. Life is too short to become agitated with small minute things. Take time to appreciate more in life; if something small happens, let it go. Spend more time enjoying life than fretting about petty things.
Live like it’s Your Last Day on Earth
What would happen if you only had 24 hours left to live? How would you live your last day on Earth? If you appreciate that time is finite and that at some point it will be your last day on earth, you may have a different perspective on life and the people around you. All the words unsaid and the negative feelings towards others, let them go. I’ve talked about this more in-depth here
Be Kind
No matter how bad of a day you are having, always be kind. A smile can lift a person up from the bottom of depression. Always treat others like you want to be treated. It means if someone is disrespectful to you, smother them in kindness.
Conclusion
So these are the 5 lessons learned from life so far. I have found myself fully understanding that life is what we make it and if something is not working, find a way to change it. Being kind is the best way to go, regardless of the other person’s actions or harsh words. We cannot control others’ actions, but we can control how we react to them.
